Labor & Delivery

Every Story is Different

The end of the beginning, is just another transition to a new beginning. As your pregnancy ends, your life as a mother begins. This short time of Labor & Delivery is that pivotal moment that brings you into motherhood. And it's different every time.

No two stories are the same.

You may have a planned caesarian, unplanned caesarian, vaginal birth, hospital birth, home birth. You may have doctors deliver or a midwife. Maybe you have a doula, maybe not. How you manage pain can differ from one child to the next. You may have a long labor or a short labor.

No matter how your story goes; It is unique to you.

Labor & Delivery is a Whirlwind

One moment you are fine doing your thing, the next you are getting ready to have a baby.

This time may seem like it takes forever when you are living in that moment, but by the end it goes by so fast. And the sad truth is, because you have to live in the moment during this time, so many memories of this time tend to slip away.

When you try to look back at this transition, you are going to remember the big moments. For me that was the first moments of meeting my babies. But everything I did before that fades away.

Capturing the Transition

Having someone walk with you in this transition to capture everything that happens, is a great way of preserving your journey. This allows you and your support to focus on the moment, but it also preserves those same moments for you to go back and reflect upon.

This is a Private Moment

Having a stranger along to photograph this part of your journey can seem scary or uncomfortable.

Your feelings are valid!

Labor & Delivery is extremely personal and private.

And it's okay to feel that way.

When preparing for my first two births, I never even thought about preparing for a Labor & Delivery photo session. But the further I get from those transitions in my life, the more I wish I had.

What to Expect

Labor & Delivery is personal, private, unique, fast paced, and emotional.

Before the Day Arrives

I want to take some time for us to get to know each other. What are your hopes and dreams for your labor? What concerns may you have? This time that we spend getting to know each other is meant to give you peace of mind about who is walking with you during this part of your journey.

The Day is Approaching

Whether you have a planned birth or it comes unexpectedly, I am here waiting on call. I am available to walk with you through this journey. The early days of contractions can be exhilarating and frustrating at the same time. (I had 3 days of contractions!) This is part of your journey!

The Day is Here

You are finally ready to have your baby. No matter where you are giving birth, I'll be there to help preserve your journey. I'll be as present or unobtrusive as you would like. (And I can easily shift from one to another as needed.) This time is about you.

Your Baby has Arrived

The first moments of your child's life are precious. Your first interactions are unique. I stay with you through this time to help preserve these precious moments. Once the whirlwind of delivery has finally slowed down, I will take some images of you with your new miracle and then give you time to get to know your baby.

Checking Back In

Because of the nature of Labor & Delivery photo sessions, I purposefully give you some time to adjust to motherhood. When you are ready, I will meet with you to show you your journey preserved in images.
